Seven-star hammer applications in acupuncture.
My private acupuncture sessions incorporate various tools and techniques including needles, herbs, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, as well as the seven-star hammer to treat different health conditions including chronic pain.
The seven-star hammer has a flexible handle that allows for superficial tapping of the needle head onto the skin. It stimulates blood flow and the release of endorphins to neglected areas of the body. Treatment applications include post-stroke paralysis, cerebral palsy, and hair loss.
There is very little pain and patients tend to enjoy the sensation. Common application areas include both sides of spinal column, all along the knuckles, and on the scalp to stimulate hair growth.
A current patient of mine was in a car accident a number of years back and continues to suffer from severe lingering pain on the left side of her head traveling down her neck. Chiropractic and physical therapy have helped. She is also finding significant relief with acupuncture especially since incorporating the tool into her acupuncture treatments.
We have applied the technique to her face, head, neck, shoulders, sacrum, and legs.
